Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

GODOLPHIN HAS prepared a strong hand for the Sussex Stakes - one of the few Group One races it has yet to win, but the 1,000 Guineas winner, Wince, will not be in opposition.

Godolphin's Saeed bin Suroor stable houses no fewer than 10 of the 28 acceptors for the Goodwood contest, including the Group One winners Aljabr, Cape Verdi, Cape Cross, Fly To The Stars and Island Sands.

Diktat, the recent Criterion Stakes winner, also remains a possible contender for the one-mile race, in which Charnwood Forest's 1996 second place is Godolphin's best effort.

Henry Cecil has left Enrique, the 2,000 Guineas runner-up, in the 28 July event, but has withdrawn the 1,000 Guineas winner, Wince. Francois Doumen's dual Hong Kong winner Jim And Tonic is the only acceptor from outside the British Isles, with the top French miler Sendawar withdrawn.

Godolphin's Kabool heads three British-based acceptors for today's Group Three Prix Messidor at Deauville. The Prix d'Ispahan fourth is joined by Sean Woods's Green Card and Richard Hannon's Wallace.
