From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

TOM TREACY rode a 14-1 double on Delphi Lodge and Siberian Gale at Navan yesterday, writes Ian Davies.

The 4-1 outsider of four for the Fortria Handicap Chase, Delphi Lodge made the weight concession from his three more experienced rivals count. Pulled up at Gowran Park behind Dorans Pride, Delphi Lodge showed a good turn of speed to foil the well-backed Papillon in a race in which Merry Gale faded and Jeffell was pulled up at the end of the back straight.

While Delphi Lodge came late, Treacy employed different tactics as the 2-1 favourite Siberian Gale coasted to his initial win over the larger obstacles in the second division of the Brookfield Beginners Chase. Trained by the former champion Paddy Mullins for his son George, Siberian Gale overcame a mistake two out to beat Total Success, whose rider Ruby Walsh had earlier taken the Liz Mullen Hurdle on Commanche Court.

Trained by the winning rider's father Ted, Commanche Court started 6- 1 to foil a gamble on the favourite Nomadic. Puget Blue, carrying the Boss Doyle colours of Mrs Anne Daly, also impressed in the first division of the Brookfield Beginners Chase.
