Racing: Italians present clues for Epsom
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.MOONAX, Overbury and Time Star can supply some valuable Derby hints when they line up for the pounds 236,807 Italian version at the Capannelle, Rome, tomorrow. Moonax ran five lengths second to Broadway Flyer in the Chester Vase and will be coupled in betting with Sheikh Mohammed's other runner, Overbury, who was beaten a short head by Foyer at York last time.
Time Star, who finished just behind Linney Head and Khamaseen at Sandown in April, looks sure to stay the trip and will find out any weaknesses in Moonax's stamina. So will the principal Italian hope, Saltiboy, a son of Slip Anchor who has won both his races this year.
Rubhahunish, a neck second to Silver Wedge in a Newbury handicap 15 days ago, and Rainbow Heights, a stable-companion of Moonax who ran a good third to Cicerao at Chester last time, complete the British challenge. Both colts have staying pedigrees, Rainbow Heights in particular, and could run into a place.
The John Gosden-trained Muhtarram takes on Bigstone, Hatoof and Marildo in tomorrow's Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp.
