Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

DONCASTER

2.05: SUGARFOOT, who landed a tub-thumping gamble from 12-1 to 9-2 favourite when fairly running away with the Bradford And Bingley Rated Handicap at the York Ebor meeting, can successfully step up in class. Touch `N' Fly has a big reputation but perhaps Auction House, who won the Champagne Stakes at this meeting last year, will provide the most problems.

ooo

2.35: PRINCESS ELLEN, who impressed when winning the Sweet Solera Stakes over seven furlongs at Newmarket, should stay this mile well enough. Courting, well beaten by the selection at Newmarket, is capable of much better than that and may prove the danger.

3.10: CELERIC, who bounced off his favoured fast ground when winning the Lonsdale Stakes over two miles at the York Ebor meeting, is a class stayer when conditions are in his favour and will be hard to beat. Rainbow High looks the one for the forecast.

ooo

3.40: FRENCH FELLOW, from a stable which knows how to campaign a horse with a view to keeping it one step ahead of the handicapper, was unlucky in running when two and a half lengths second to King O' The Mana over this distance at Newcastle and can go one better.
