COOL GROUND, who won last year's race during his build up to his Cheltenham Gold Cup triumph, heads the 33 entries announced yesterday for the Greenalls Gold Cup on Saturday week.

Toby Balding's chaser has been allotted top-weight of 11st 10lbs in the pounds 40,000 Haydock race. He is one of 19 Greenalls Gold Cup entries also in the Grand National. The others include Party Politics, Twin Oaks, Merry Master and Otterburn House.

Balding's Morley Street is among 36 entries for the Aintree Hurdle on 3 April. Morley Street has won the race three times.

Jockey Stuart Turner broke his upper right arm when thrown to the ground as his mount Tom Towley stumbled during the opening race at Sedgefield yesterday.
