VICTOR CHANDLER'S hopes of plugging its new tax-free, Gibraltar- based credit betting service on Channel 4 Teletext have been dashed. After taking legal advice, Teletext UK feel an offence would be committed if they accepted such advertising.

Meanwhile, the bookmaking firm says it has received an average of 700 account applications a day since last week's news of the move to Gibraltar.
