Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

ANTONIA'S DOUBLE won for Jack Berry at Redcar yesterday and his Cockerham stable is hoping the filly's success is a good omen for Selhurstpark Flyer who runs at Epsom on Saturday. Partnered by Paul Fessey, Antonio's Double made all the running in the Tote Sprint Handicap.

Berry's son Alan explained: "We have had a bit of a slow start for Mr and Mrs Chris Deuters, this is the third winner we have had for them this season, but all have come in the past two weeks. They are our biggest owners with 20 horses in the yard and we run Selhurstpark Flyer for them in an Epsom sprint which he won last year and three years ago."

Having won the Wokingham Handicap at Royal Ascot for the past two years, Selhurstpark Flyer will be bidding to complete the hat-trick and Berry went on: "He is well and the Epsom race is the same prep race in which he has run in the past before going to the Royal meeting - hopefully we have come into form for the owners at the right time."
