Q. I notice that the first seven names on Blackpool's teamsheet recently all began with the letter B. Does anyone know of any team which has bettered this?

A. In what would be the worst Sheffield Wednesday performance in the 1992-93 season, in which the club twice wound up at Wembley without winning, Wednesday were beaten by Manchester City 3-0 at home. The woeful performance was wondrous only for the wealth of Ws wheeled out by Wednesday - seven and a half (which just beats Blackpool). Chris Woods, Danny Wilson, Paul Warhurst, Gordon Watson, Chris Waddle, Paul Williams and Nigel Worthington made up the seven and Chris Bart-Williams the half. Ironically, Wednesday had two other squad players at that time who made first-team appearances: Michael Williams (as a substitute) and Julian Watts. - Graham Lightfoot, Editor, "Spitting Feathers", Sheffield

Q. In 1990 Oldham Athletic beat West Ham United 6-0 in the first leg of the semi-final of the then Littlewoods Cup, now the Coca-Cola Cup. Has there been a bigger winning margin in the final stages of a national cup competition? - Neil Howarth, Redruth
