Winter Olympics 2018: US radio host sacked for sexual comments about 17-year-old snowboarder Chloe Kim
Presenter Patrick Conner said 'the countdown is on' to Kim's 18th birthday and called her 'fine as hell'
A US radio station has fired one of its presenters for sexual comments he made about 17-year-old snowboarder Chloe Kim after she won gold in Pyeongchang, including calling her “a little piece of hot ass”.
Patrick Connor, who works for a San Francisco Bay Area radio station was sacked after also referring to Kim as “fine as hell”, along with more vulgar sexual comments before saying “the countdown is on” until she turns 18 years old while appearing on the Barstool Sports network on SiriusXM.
Program director Jeremiah Crowe of KNBR-AM said in a statement Wednesday that Connor has been fired as a result of the comments.
Connor apologised on Twitter afterwards and called his comments “inappropriate”.
“Yesterday in a weird attempt to make people laugh I failed,” he posted. “My comments about Chloe Kim were more than inappropriate they were lame & gross. I’m truly sorry Chloe. You’ve repped our country so brilliantly. I apologise to my colleagues & to the listeners for being a total idiot.”
Kim won the women’s halfpipe on Tuesday after landing her signature back-to-back 1080s to earn a near-perfect score of 98.25.
