With less than 1800 miles to finish in Les Sables d'Olonne, Christophe Augin is well on course to break the 109-day record for the Vendee Globe single-handed non-stop round the world race, though he has again been slowed by the frustratingly slow conditions which forced him to abandon his 100-day target.

The eight yachts in the Clipper '96 race have started the sixth leg of their round the world event from Honolulu to Yokohama.
