Peugeot are to end their three-year contract to supply engines to McLaren after one season to join forces with their Formula One rivals Jordan for next year. McLaren are expected to link up with Mercedes.
Ron Dennis, McLaren's chief, denied rumours that the decision to leave Peugeot was prompted by financial problems caused by his company's venture into the luxury sportscar market.
Takachiho Inoue, of Japan, will make his Formula One debut at his home Grand Prix on 6 November. Inoue, 31, will replace the Italian Domenico Schiattarella in the Simtek team at Suzuka. Schiattarella will return for the last race of the season in Adelaide.
