American football:

London Monarchs put their poor start to the season behind them as they beat Rhein Fire 27-20 in their World League matchon Saturday. Kenny McEntyre picked off three interceptions and ran one back for a touchdown to seal a fine victory, the third interception coming with little more than two minutes left on the clock. Monarch quarter-back Preston Jones also enjoyed a fine game with a 14-of-21 for 152 yard passing performance after a miserable performance in last week's 37-3 thrashing by the Frankfurt Galaxy. Yesterday the Scottish Claymores beat Amsterdam Admirals 21-14 in front of a 13,070 crow at Murrayfield today to record their third successive victory.
