Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Jrgen Klinsmann will this week decide whether to leave England and join Bayern Munich. He was not expected to announce his decision until 18 May when he receives the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year award, but he has beciome irritated by constant German media speculation about his future.
"At the moment, speculation is being sold as the truth in the media. I talked with Spurs manager Gerry Francis and chairman Alan Sugar on Sunday and will sit down with them again this week," Klinsmann said.
Bayern could have Klinsmann and Jean-Pierre Papin in their forward line next season - or neither of them. Papin is also trying to decide whether to stay put or return home to France.
Another international debating his future is Paul Gascoigne. A fee may have been agreed between Rangers and Lazio, but the midfielder's agent Len Lazarus says negotiations with the Glasgow club are on hold until talks have taken place with Lazio.
Roy Keane, now free of suspension, has resumed training after his ankle injury and now looks certain to be fit to play in Manchester United's Cup final team. He could even be fit to face West Ham in the Premiership on Sunday.
Meho Kodro, the 28-year-old Bosnian striker who attracted interest from Newcastle earlier this season, yesterday signed for Barcelona in a £3.8m deal from Spanish League rivals Real Sociedad.
