Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Devils now have six points from their three games to head the table with Manchester Storm, who have six from four, and Bracknell Bees, six from five. Storm picked up two vital points in a 4-3 away win over the Bees while the champions, Ayr Scottish Eagles, were going down 3-2 away to Sheffield Steelers after leading 2-0 on 16 minutes.
At Cardiff, the Knights were 5-2 down but levelled matters with three goals in six minutes and took a 6-5 lead before Vezio Sacratini's second goal of the night two minutes from the end tied it and Steve Moria got the winner with 44 seconds left.
Darren Hurley (2), Brad Rubachuk and Dave Morrison got the goals for Storm in their win at Bracknell, who were also beaten 7-1 at home in the Cup by Ayr the previous night.
