ASCOT 2.35: Gales Cavalier has proved progressive over fences, beating Society Guest by 20 lengths at Kempton last time. But his wins have come on much softer surfaces than today's. Brief Gale has shown almost all her form at distances at least half a mile further than here and seems sure to be outpaced by ABSALOM'S LADY. The selection has not matched her debut second to Travado in two chases since, but is more than capable of equalling her high-class hurdles form over the larger obstacles.

ooo 3.05: Blazing Walker is no longer among the best in the land, but might still be too much for these over a shorter trip. However, his only win over three miles was gained in a low-class match. Whispering Steel jumped badly behind Raymylette last timeand his stable is under a cloud at present. Superior Finish was third in the Scottish National last spring, but has yet to win on his seasonal debut. The revival of 1992 Hennessy winner SIBTON ABBEY was not sufficiently strong for him to succeed in the most recent renewal, but he ran respectably in mid-division just behind Dubacilla and Deep Bramble and has been dropped 4lbs for a far weaker event.

ooo 3.35: The leading fancies may all find this going on the lively side, but CYBORGO is in such commanding form that he should prevail. Loch Scavaig favours fast ground but is too wayward to make a viable alternative.
