Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

John Shaw, the Southgate and England captain, said yesterday: 'We have had extra training during the week and with the return of Soma Singh from international duty we will be at full strength.'
Hounslow welcome back Bob Crutchley from his England indoor goalscoring achievements for their fifth-round cup game this afternoon away to East Grinstead and for tomorrow's League game at Bromley. Havant will have Don Williams back from England duty for their Cup game at Bromley today and home League fixture against Bournville tomorrow.
They have doubts about their other England player, Peter Nail, who spent a good part of last weekend's tournament in Bonn on the sidelines following a foot injury suffered in Havant's game with Hounslow the previous week. Today's other delayed Cup game should see Old Loughtonians moving into the quarter-finals at the Bournville's expense.
At Crystal Palace today and tomorrow, Hightown, England's representatives in Europe in a couple of weeks' time, will be defending their national title in the women's indoor competition.
