Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

In a practice game in Barcelona on Wednesday evening they beat the Barcelona Polo Club 5-0 but at the expense of a thigh injury to the defender, Mark Reilly, who is extremely doubtful for the opening game.
Teddington play the Russians, Ekaterinburg, tomorrow and on Sunday, for their final pool game, they play the host club Atletic Terrassa, who include the 21-year-old, Jaimie Arnau, who was such a thorn in the British side in Spain's two games against them in the recent Champions' Trophy in Lahore. The winners of this game are almost certain to contest Monday's final against either Harvestehuder, from Germany, or HGC, from The Netherlands.
At Cardiff, in the women's event, Balsam Leicester also start with a game against the Irish, Portadown, and expect to select from a full squad, Kim Gordon, Morag Laird and Sarah Naylor having recovered from injuries. Leicester play the host club tomorrow and then Bayer Leverkusen from Germany in their final pool game.
Principal guests at the weekend's Folkestone International Festival are a South African touring side who will play the festival XI on Sunday afternoon. The Italian national side feature in a strong overseas line-up with Hounslow and Havant leading the domestic sides.
