From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

THE Hockey Association Cup third-round match between Bournville and Blueharts which was abandoned on Sunday because of problems with local vandals, will now be replayed at Hitchin on 12 December, the Bournville club having conceded home advantage, writes Bill Colwill.

Stephen Barlow, the HA's competitions organiser, said yesterday: 'As far as I know it is the first time that we have experienced this sort of trouble, but sadly we have to play where the pitches are.'

Stuart Ives, the Gore Court player injured in a disturbance outside a Sheffield night-club in the early hours of Sunday morning, was yesterday still in a critical but stable condition. The Kent club will make a statement this morning. South Yorkshire Police have detained three men for questioning.

Gore Court's sad weekend, which ended with the club conceding their tie against York, started on Saturday at High Wycombe, where a 60th-minute goal from Wycombe's Ian Styan robbed them of their unbeaten record in the Nastro Azzurro South Premier League.
