Hockey: Garcia's rich vein in vain: Australia complete double
England. . . .1
Australia. . .2
RUSSELL GARCIA continued his run of goals against Australia but the tourists fought back to win 2-1 in the second of their two matches at Bisham Abbey yesterday, writes Bill Colwill.
Garcia put England ahead after nine minutes following a penalty corner. Bob Crutchley, receiving the push-off, mis-hit and the ball broke to Garcia to score with a powerful drag shot.
Nine minutes into the second half, Lee Bodimeade, allowed a clear run through, equalised. And just when a draw looked likely, Jay Stacy converted Australia's sixth penalty corner.
