Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

MILTON KEYNES National Hockey Stadium promises a feast of hockey this weekend. This afternoon is the first of the weekend's National League play-off games between Eastcote and Peterborough Town. There will be six teams playing in two pools of three with the pool winners going through to next year's National League.

Tomorrow and on Sunday there is the added attraction of four Cup finals. Tomorrow morning Eastcote will put out a second squad from the club in the Vintage final (over-50s) against their local neighbours, St Albans.

After two more Inter League games there is the Veterans final (over-40s), which features Bournville and Indian Gymkhana. The Seoul Olympic gold medallist Kulbir Bhaura and former Slough and England centre-forward Bal Saini will form a formidable partnership for Gymkhana while the former England captain Neil Mallett will lead the Bournville side.

On Sunday, after the last two Inter League games, there is the Trophy final between West Herts, going for their third successive title, and Bowden and then the EHA Cup final between the League champions, Cannock, and Beeston, in the first all-Midlands final.
