Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A 5-0 thrashing of Luton Town on Saturday gave Blueharts the Norwich Union East Premier title, a victory that also rewarded the Hertfordshire side with one of the two remaining play-off places for next season's National League.

Dominic Camilleri, the Blueharts captain, gave his side a fine start with a fourth-minute goal, Andy Law hit a couple more and Bobby Bridges added a fourth before the interval to start early celebrations. Tim Le Sage completed the rout.

The play-off line-up was completed by Olton and West Warwick of the DTZ Midland League in spite of their first defeat in 35 League games since the arrival of Gavin Featherstone, the coach of South Africa.

Olton went into their game against Harborne knowing that if they could avoid a 4-0 defeat a play-off place was theirs for the second successive year. David Hemmings gave them the lead in the fifth minute, and although Harborne came back to win 3-1, it was not enough to edge Olton out.

In the Nastro Azzurro South Premier, Wycombe's captain Paul Brown scored his first goal of the season in the last seconds to give his side a 1- 0 win against Lyons, and the title.
