HENMAN & RUSEDSKI TO TAKE BREAK FROM TENNIS
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Britain's top two men are to take a break from tournaments until the New Year. Tim Henman, who reached his highest world ranking of 98 last week, has announced his withdrawal from the circuit until the Australian Open in January. Greg Rusedski, who finished the year as World No 38, has followed suit although they will both play for Britian in the European Men's Team Championship in Dublin from 8 to 10 December.
Peter Fleming, who partnered John McEnroe to win the Wimbledon men's doubles title four times between 1979 and 1984, has been appointed the new coach to the Lawn Association Laing squad for 1996. He will be in charge of Andrew Richardson, the 21-year-old left-hander from Bourne in Lincolnshire, Jamie Delgado, the 18-year-old from Maidenhead, and 23- year-old Nick Gould, from Cleeve, near Bristol.
