Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Canadian sank the putt at the 18th hole to earn his third career title and the $900,000 (£616,000) top prize.
Weir was one shot ahead of the field, but a bogey on the last hole in regulation play, the 72nd, dropped him down into the play-off. He ended with a three-under-par 68 to finish at 14-under 270.
The third-round leader Scott Verplank had a chance to join the play-off but missed an 18-foot birdie putt at the closing hole and tied with Kenny Perry for fifth at 271. David Duval, Jim Furyk and Bob Estes tied for seventh at 272.
The tournament featured the top 30 players on the money list, excluding the world No 2 and the defending champion, Phil Mickelson, who missed the event after the birth of his second daughter.
The world No 1 Tiger Woods finished tied for 13th place, ending on eight-under 276.
Woods, who won his third consecutive Arnold Palmer Award as the leading money winner, said: "I felt coming into this week that I was playing well. But I couldn't swing the club for the first two days."
