From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Baker raises Ryder hopes
Peter Baker, who won three of his four matches on his Ryder Cup debut in 1993, believes he can still make this year's team if he continues in the fine form as he is showing at the Scandinavian Masters in Malmo. He shot 69 in the third round for a 54-hole aggregate of 205 to share second place with Australia's Stephen Allan, four shots behind the Swede Joakim Haeggman. First prize would put Baker up in the top 20 in the Ryder Cup table. "I know it's a long shot," Baker said. "But you have to hope." Aran Wainwright won the English Amateur Championship with a 2 and 1 victory over Philip Rowe at Royal Liverpool. The Welsh title went to Jamie Donaldson, who beat Mark Pilkington 5 and 4 at Pyle and Kenfig, while the Scottish title went to Craig Hislop, who beat Sam Cairns 5 and 3 at Carnoustie.
