At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Your support makes all the difference. The Miz welcomed the Smackdown crowd to Miz TV as he introduced his first guest Daniel Bryan, who was then followed by his opponent at WWE Fast Lane, Roman Reigns. Before Miz could ask any questions, Reigns delivered a Superman Punch out of nowhere to the host, much to the delight of the crowd. “The Powerhouse” then turned his attention to Bryan and told him that he went through 29 Superstars to get a spot at WrestleMania but doesn’t bother him that he has to go through one more to get there.
Reigns said he couldn’t wait for Fast Lane and wanted the match right now, which Bryan agreed to but Seth Rollins’ music hit to interrupt to pair. Rollins said that he hates to be a “Party pooper” but he has a bone to pick with the two as it was Roman’s interference that caused him his chance at WrestleMania in his and Bryan’s match on Raw. “The Architect” said that nonetheless he’s the future of the business and Bryan’s future is jeopardy as he has a match later tonight against himself and J and J Security in a handicap match.
Dolph Ziggler and Ryback paired together to take on Stardust and Goldust in a tag team match. The Dust Brothers have been having a shaky relationship as of late and it showed during the match as the newly form tag team dominated over the siblings. Stardust then took offence to when Goldust called him Cody and left to abandon the whole match. Ziggler then hit a striking Superkick to the chin of Goldust before Ryback was tagged in to land the Shell Shocked for the victory.
Curtis Axel slowed the show down by telling the fans that he should be in the main event at WrestleMania as he was never actually eliminated from the match. He asked the fans to join the movement and hashtag “AxelMania” before Dean Ambrose stormed down to the ring to take the frustrated man on. Ambrose delivered a Running Bulldog to Axel and followed with the Dirty Deeds for the win. Bad News Barrett appeared on the Titantron with a new segment titled “BNZ” to parody TMZ. Barrett said that he heard the news that Ambrose is looking for an Intercontinental Championship opportunity but he would not be handed this chance as he’s too much of a lunatic to deserve it.
Adam Rose danced to the ring to take on Fandango but before the match started he was dropped by “The Exotic Express” during their dance routine. Rose was furious and attacked his party members before entering the ring. Due to Rose’s divided attention, Fandango was able to capitalise and land The Last Dance Leg Drop for the three count. Fandango danced with his partner Rosa to celebrate the win as Rose continued to look angered at his Express.
Miz came back to the ring to take on Reigns but he attacked him before the bell rang as the two plummeted into the steel steps. Despite the pre-match attack, Reigns fought back and landed the Samoan Drop to switch the momentum. The Royal Rumble winner then delivered the Superman Punch followed by a Spear to win the match. Reigns celebrated in the ring as the commentators highlighted that he was sending a statement to the WWE Universe that he will go through anyone to maintain his spot at WrestleMania.
The next match saw Rusev take on Erick Rowan in a singles match as the two had started a rivalry on Monday night. Rusev won the match inside five minutes with by forcing Rowan to submit to The Accolade. “The Big Russian” would not let go of the hold following the bout as he was adamant to send a message to John Cena, who he faces at Fast Lane. Lana soon joined her accomplice in the ring to celebrate as the flag of Russia dropped from the rafters.
Paige took on Alicia Fox in a rematch from Raw where the Bellas sprayed fake tan on Paige following the match. The Divas Championship number one contender said before the match that she had never been so embarrassed but she would never conform to fit in with what a typical Diva looks like. Paige was evidently determined to prove a point as she excelled over Fox and won with the PTO submission within three minutes.
The main event saw Bryan take on Rollins and his security in a 3 on 1 handicap match. Bryan clotheslined Rollins to the outside before throwing Jamie Noble over the ropes as well. The former WWE Champion then signalled for the running knee on Joey Mercury but Rollins ran in to save his partner. Mercury then attempted to steal the win with a roll up but Bryan reversed the pin for the Yes Lock to win via submission. Kane attacked the winner following the match and landed a Chokeslam before Rollins joined in and hit a Curb Stomp. Rollins closed the show by telling Bryan that he’s not making it to Fast Lane, which “Mr Money in the Bank” does not yet have an opponent scheduled for `himself.
