From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. ‘Shane-O Mac’ interrupted the presentation of the Vincent J. McMahon Legacy of Excellence Award to his sister, Stephanie, and proceeded to question her management of the company.
Stephanie McMahon and her husband, executive vice present Triple H, were accused of “running the company into the ground”, as Shane noted the WWE's falling stock and its slump in ratings.
He also claimed to have cut a deal with his father and majority owner Vince McMahon, allowing him to retain “his place in line” and a level of power within the company while pursuing other business interests.
Since leaving WWE six years ago, Shane has become vice chairman of You on Demand, China’s first video-on-demand service, and has also served on the board of directors for the International Sports Management agency.
‘Shane-O Mac’ went on to demand control of WWE Monday Night Raw, the company’s flagship television programme, and was granted it, provided that he wins a Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania 32.
His opponent, selected by Vince McMahon, will be The Undertaker, who boasted a streak of 21 straight victories at WrestleMania evbents until he sustained his first defeat to Brock Lesnar two years ago.
