Roman Reigns picked up another huge win at WWE No Mercy as he overcame John Cena in a truly special match in California.

Cena’s collision with Reigns had been hotly-anticipated and very heavily built up and it didn’t disappoint. Reigns came out on top; surviving four AA’s as he downed the 16-time world champion thanks to a brutal spear. The finish had a feel of a torch being passed, but there’s absolutely no doubt: if Cena is winding down, he’s doing so very much still at the top of his game.

The night’s main event by contrast was not one to live long in the memory as Universal Champion Brock Lesnar retained against Braun Strowman. The two heavy hitters squared off in what was billed as a ‘Wrestlemania-size’ bout – the only similarities it ended up sharing was in length, as the former UFC champ got his business done in short order.

A cracking opening to the show saw The Miz retain his Intercontinental championship as he overcame the challenge of a talented Jason Jordan, albeit with a little assistance from his Miztourage.

There’s a new man atop of the Cruiserweight division after Enzo Amore sprang something of a surprise by downing Neville, who has dominated the purple brand for almost all of 2017. Amore needed a cheeky low blow, unsighted by the referee, to get the job done as the Brit was dethroned.

Finn Balor looks to have the measure of Bray Wyatt after he scored wins in consecutive pay-per-views over Wyatt that left both men bloodied and battered – blood also featuring in the bout that followed as Cesaro lost two teeth in a bath of crimson as he and tag-team partner Shaemus narrowly came up short in their quest to regain the Raw tag-team titles against Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose in one of the best tag matches seen this year.

Raw’s women would not be outshone – five of the best put on a brief but entertaining fatal five-way encounter that saw Nia Jax dominate but Alexa Bliss eventually come out on top as she retained her gold, each of the five getting the their opportunity to stand tall at stages during the match.
