"At the moment we're OK," Chris Stickels, the clerk of the course, said yesterday. "We've moved some rails three and a half furlongs from the finish to avoid the false ground which forced us to abandon our last meeting.'' Further restrictions on the number of runners are likely.

Officicials at Nottingham and Redcar were optimistic last night that today's fixtures will beat the wet spell. Yesterday's cards at Bangor and Leicester were called off because of waterlogged ground.
