From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Terry Newton is clear to line up for Wigan in Friday's play-off semi-final against Wakefield, despite a tackle which angered the St Helens coach, Ian Millward, on Saturday.

Officials have studied video evidence of the tackle and decided that the Wigan hooker has no case to answer.

Wakefield's David Solomona is also in the clear, despite being placed on report for a suspected illegal tackle during the victory at Hull on Friday. Trinity are also hopeful that Sid Domic will be fit to play at Wigan, despite coming off at Hull with a calf injury.

The Saints forward John Stankevitch is leaving the club and joining Widnes on a two-year contractwhile their centre, Willie Talau, has been added to the New Zealand squad preparing for the Tri-Nations tournament this autumn.

Chris Joynt, the St Helens captain, is expected to make a decision soon on whether he is to retire and Saints have been showing interest in Michael Smith, of relegated Castleford.

Bradford, who are being linked with two other Castleford players, Andy Lynch and Ryan Hudson, have re-signed their prop, Rob Parker, for another two years.

Super League has restructured fixtures for next season so that, instead of extra matches against teams in their own half of the previous season's table, each team that finishes in an odd-numbered place will play the even numbers and vice versa.

Adrian Morley, the Great Britain forward, is a doubtful starter for the Sydney Roosters in the Australian Grand Final against Canterbury on Sunday, after injuring his neck last weekend.
