From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Hull full-back Jordan Tansey's long-term future at the club is in doubt after he was dropped for yesterday's pre-season friendly at Castleford for disciplinary reasons.

It is the third time in 12 months the 24-year-old former Leeds player has been omitted for off-the-field behaviour and he was warned about his conduct at the end of last season.

"Jordan was left out for disciplinary reasons and it is not for the first time," coach Richard Agar told the Hull Daily Mail.

"We will deal with it in-house and let everyone know what is going on with that when the time is right.

"Obviously there are some adjustments Jordan needs to make if he wants to be a professional rugby league player.

"I'm disappointed at having to make these late changes but Jordan has let us down."

Tansey, who joined the club from Sydney Roosters 18 months ago, was dropped for last season's round four Super League game against Harlequins and missed the play-off defeat with Hull KR following two breaches of the club's code of conduct.
