Julian Pritchard kept himself in touch with Evan Williams in the championship race with two winners at Chaddesley Corbett on Monday and one at Lifton on Tuesday.

With 35 winners he is now just two behind the Bridgend-based rider, who looked to have the mens' title firmly in his grasp after landing a four-timer at Bonvilston on Saturday while Pritchard was riding at Stratford.

Williams was desperately unlucky at Chaddesley Corbett as Simply Better, his mount in the confined event, broke a leg when in a clear lead after the second last. With just three fixtures left their duel could continue until the final day of the season on 15 June, a scenario reminiscent of 1998 when Pritchard and Andrew Dalton tied for the championship on 33.

SATURDAY'S FIXTURES

Pembrokeshire at Trecoed. First race: 2.00. Tiverton Staghounds at Bratton Down. 2.00.
