Racing: Godolphin held off in Hong Kong
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Before a 70,000 crowd at Sha Tin racecourse, Agnes Digital held Godolphin's Tobougg by a head in the £1m Hong Kong Cup, with the winner aiming next at the Dubai World Cup.
Tobougg's trainer, Saeed bin Suroor, said: "When the winner went past he kept fighting back and was gaining again at the line. He will be a serious horse next season."
Michael Jarvis is relishing the prospect of training the former Ballydoyle inmate Hawkeye, who was fourth in yesterday's event. "It looks like we have a good horse on our hands," Jarvis said.
François Doumen's Jim And Tonic was out of the frame for the first time in six outings on the course, while Aidan O'Brien's Bach was last of 14 runners.
In the Vase, Stay Gold reeled in Dettori on Ekraar to win by a head. Last year's winner, Daliapour, was only sixth for Sir Michael Stoute, who said: "He just emptied." In the Mile, Eishin Preston won easily by three lengths from the local horse Electric Unicorn, with Godolphin's China Visit in third.
