Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Ruby Walsh, rather than Tony Dobbin, will take over from the banned Dean Gallagher when Hors La Loi III makes his seasonal return in the Bula Hurdle at Cheltenham on Saturday. Dobbin, who has schooled the Champion Hurdler, has had to rule himself out of the running because of his commitments to ride Full Irish for Len Lungo at either Haydock or Doncaster.

James Fanshawe, trainer of Hors La Loi III, also announced that Walsh, who has ridden 32 winners in Britain this year from 97 rides, would be on board Eternal Spring in the Relkeel Hurdle on the same card.

Ross Moff, who had been quoted as low as 5-1 for Saturday's Tripleprint Gold Cup, is to bypass the race in favour of either another chase at Cheltenham or a race at Cork on Sunday.

Ulundi's challenge for Sunday's Hong Kong International Cup has been jeopardised because Paul Webber's seven-year-old, fourth in the Arlington Million in August, had a bad journey to the Far East.

Pascal Bary's Domedriver, who ended the winning run of Rock Of Gibraltar in the Breeders' Cup Mile, is lame in his right-hind leg and will not be able to take on Noverre, Tillerman and Dupont in the Mile.

* Today's card at Leicester is threatened by frost. There will be an inspection at 7.45am, but the forecast is bleak.
