From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Fallon, who denies any wrongdoing, was arrested and bailed in September 2004. Last night, he left the police station just after 7.15pm. The 40-year-old has previously said he had been questioned about his involvement with Miles Rodgers, formerly a director of the Platinum Racing Club syndicate.

A total of 27 people have been arrested, including fellow riders Robert Winston, Darren Williams, Fergal Lynch and Paul Bradley, along with trainers Karl Burke and Alan Berry. They all deny any wrongdoing.

Twenty people are due to answer bail over the next month. Five others have had their bail extended.

John Blake, the chief executive of the Jockeys' Association, said: "I'm extremely disappointed, as I'm sure Kieren is, that the matter continues to drag on. Given the investigation requires more time, one would have to ask how much further on they are in what seems to be a very thorough investigation. But I would underline that no-one has been charged."
