Great Britain's women's skeleton team enjoyed a World Cup one-two in St Moritz yesterday. Lizzy Yarnold, in her second World Cup race, pipped the 2006 Olympic silver medallist Shelley Rudman to take gold.

Yarnold set the quickest time in the one run that was possible with one minute 11.93 seconds, edging Rudman's 1min 12.18sec. The second run was cancelled because of heavy snow.

Yarnold, 23, said: "I am really pleased with the result. I feel a sense of relief that everything I've done has been worthwhile. I set out to be consistent and replicate everything that I have done in training and I achieved that despite the weather."
