From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Paul Ingle has pulled out of his International Boxing Federation and International Boxing Organisation world featherweight title defences against the South African Mbulelo Botile.

The Scarborough-based boxer injured his hand in training and has been advised by a doctor to rest the hand for four weeks. The fight was due to take place on 30 September at the Hull Arena and will now be rescheduled for some time in November.

Ingle's manager, Frank Maloney, said: "It's very disappointing that Paul has had to pull out of this defence. He has got the hand injury and we hope to get him ready to fight on 11 November as the British bill to support the next Lennox Lewis fight."

Lewis's next mandatory defence will be against the World Boxing Council and International Boxing Federation leading contender David Tua. A decision for the venue of the fight has yet to be made.
