A crowd of more than 4,000 saw Steve Ellis net a 50th minute equaliser for Sheffield following Dennis Maxwell's opening score for the Devils after 10 minutes.
In the Elite League, Manchester Phoenix beat Belfast Giants 5-4 while Panthers were victorious 6-3 at Coventry Blaze. Phoenix struck three times in 10 second-half minutes through Chad Brandimore, David Cozier and Darcy Anderson and held on despite a late Giants fightback.
Coventry were leading 3-1 at one stage but two-goal David Clarke put Panthers in control.
