Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Reading lost their 100 per cent record in a 2-2 draw with Cannock at Sonning Lane yesterday, in a game in which they twice came from behind and were saved time again by their England goalkeeper, Jimi Lewis.

In a string of brave penalty corner saves and also a stick save at a penalty stroke from Jon Wyatt, Lewis stood between Reading and a large win. Ben Sharpe opened the scoring for the visitors while Tom Bertram equalised from the first of Reading's 13 penalty corners. Simon Organ then scored at a penalty corner before Ken Robinson brought his league tally to 12.

Jimmy Wallis scored twice against his old club Teddington as Surbiton won 2-1 to move into second place.

In Division Two Belper opened a two point gap at the top by beating Oxford Hawks 10-0 on Saturday and Blueharts 7-1 yesterday. There were no surprises in the Women's Second Round Cup with Sarah Bamfield scoring five times in Ipswich's 12-0 victory over Gore Court.
