Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Chelmsford women put their celebrations for winning the National Indoor title at Crystal Palace on ice last weekend after the men's first XI goalkeeper David Carter was badly injured in a car accident a short distance from the venue.
Carter, a second-year physiotherapy student, suffered fractures to his lower legs as well as serious injuries to his upper body, but after two operations he is expected to leave hospital some time next week.
As the National League swings back into full action this weekend both Chelmsford teams will want to put the accident behind them. The men, striving for promotion to the Premiership and lying just three points away from the leaders Firebrands, visit Belper tomorrow when their player-coach, Craig Fulton, will return from action with the South African national side.
Chelmsford women, who lead the Premier Division, host Fyffes Leicester today when they will introduce three teenagers to their squad, Sarah Bolton, Julia Butterworth and Libby Knifton.
