Tyson Fury fires warning at Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder after announcing return

Fury confirmed on Thursday afternoon that he was set to return to the ring on Saturday 9 June at the Manchester Arena, having signed for Frank Warren

Tyson Fury has sent a fierce warning to heavyweight rivals Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder, saying that he is ready to “claim what is rightfully mine”.

The former unified heavyweight champion has been out of the ring since October 2015 after his crowning evening against Wladimir Klitschko in Düsseldorf. He announced on Thursday afternoon that he was set to return to the ring on Saturday 9 June at the Manchester Arena, having signed for Frank Warren.

After spending an extended period on the sidelines due to personal as well as legal issues with the boxing board of control, Fury has been training with new coach Ben Davison after parting from uncle Peter Fury and looks to be returning to a competitive weight.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Fury sent a warning to the two current heavyweight champions. Discussing Joshua, Fury claimed: "He's a big old dosser, belt carrier for me. By the time I get ready to fight, it's going to be an easy fight. He's looking for one punch all night. I have a tip for him, 'get a handful of rice and throw it on me', other than that he has no chance [of touching me]. He has no chance, he's not the biggest puncher in the world. I'd outbox him for a few rounds and then I would knock him out."

Across the pond, it is Wilder who holds the WBC title and Fury believes that he is the biggest threat in the division.

"Deontay is top of the pile, he's dangerous until the last two seconds. He only needs one punch. Unlike AJ he has the agility to land punches from anywhere. They're all very vulnerable and beatable."

The opponent that Fury will face in his comeback fight has yet to be announced, with Warren confirming it would announced in “due course”, while confirming Fury's contract is a “multi-fight deal”.
