From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The two-weight UFC champion will make his boxing debut against the undefeated American on August 26 in a bout which is expected to break all previous pay-per-view records.
McGregor and Mayweather will come face-to-face as their promotional tour ahead of the fight kicks off in LA on Tuesday night – the first of four press conferences in four different cities around the world, including Toronto, New York and London.
The Irishman prepared for the first press-conference by going shopping on Rodeo Drive whilst being mobbed by fans and cameras as McGregor responded to claims that Mayweather only took the fight in order to get the money to settle an ongoing tax dispute with the IRS.
“I don't give a f**k what he did,” McGregor told TMZ.
“I don't give a f**k. I don't care what he done. He should've stayed retired. He's f***ed now. That's the God's honest truth. He should have paid his taxes and stayed retired. And kept my name out of his f*****g mouth.”
