From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Floyd Mayweather takes on Andre Berto in Las Vegas in the early hours of Sunday morning, in what he says is his final fight. The ring walk is expected to start from around 3.30-4am (BST).

The names of Amir Khan, Keith Thurman and Gennady Golvkin were mooted, but instead the unbeaten Mayweather fights Berto, who is a former world champion but has lost three of his last six fights.

It will be Mayweather's 49th fight, and the final bout of the six-fight deal he agreed with American broadcaster Showtime in February 2013.

If he wins, the 38-year-old's record will equal that of legendary 1950s American heavyweight Rocky Marciano, who retired from the sport without suffering a professional defeat.

Last month, Mayweather hit out at those criticising him for picking Berto in what looks to be his final fight.

"He's a young, strong fighter who is hungry to take down the best - 48 have tried before and on 12 September, I'm going to make it 49," Mayweather said.

"How many championships has Khan won, two. Berto has won two also."
