From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Anthony Joshua admits that he is not looking to fight in Las Vegas and conquer America, insisting London and Wembley should be where people want to fight.
The Brit became the WBO champion on Saturday night as he was taken the full 12 rounds by Joseph Parker in Cardiff to unify the strap with the IBF, IBO and WBA belts he already holds.
The only one remaining is Deontay Wilder’s WBC heavyweight championship, with the American the man Joshua wants to face next, although his promotor Eddie Hearn admitted after the fight that there had been no contact from the Bronze Bomber and his camp.
While America is seen as the pinnacle for all boxers given the money available in Vegas, Joshua was questioned on whether he wanted to go across the Atlantic to continue his domination of the division, but insisted he didn’t want to leave the UK fans behind.
“No [I won't be going to America],” he said, after being taken the distance for the first time in his professional career.
“UK and British boxing is the best and are on the map representing not just this division but we go down to the lower weight and we are representing.
“All the time people used to have to go out to America to watch it, they don't need to anymore.
“They can come to Cardiff, or Wembley. We will stay here.”
