From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Brighton Bears came back from 14 points down to beat Sheffield Sharks 93-85 on Saturday, ending the unbeaten home record of the BBL Champions.

The American centre Kendrick Warren led the scorers with 25 points as the Bears won away for the first time at the Sharks since December 1995 and halted their run of 24 games without defeat at Ponds Forge.

Sheffield took a 70-56 lead into the final quarter but scored only two points in the next five minutes as they grew ill-disciplined at the Bears' aggressive defence. Sheffield's leading scorer, Justin Phoenix (24 points), fouled out and free throws from Randy Duck gave the Bears a four-point lead.

The Sharks rallied with a three-point play from Rob Yanders but were forced to foul to try and regain possession, and the visitors made the game safe from the free-throw line.
