From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Derby Storm coach John Spezia finally smiled on Saturday when his players broke their duck with a 65-64 BBL Championship win over Edinburgh Rocks, and the American hopes to tempt back a former player, David Attewell.

The 27 year-old former England international was Derby's player of the year in 1998, but spent the next three season with London Leopards and is now building a career in teaching.

Spezia said: "I know Dave would be very popular if we could tempt him back up here and would fit in perfectly with what we are trying to do as a team. What we need now is to find him a job in Derby."

Derby's victory leaves Manchester Giants with the only winless record after they lost 93-72 at home to London Towers, recovering from their fourth straight defeat in the Euroleague after losing at home to Barcelona on Thursday.
