Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

However, Farah can expect to close the gap on Galen Rupp before the main business of 2013, the World Championships in Moscow in August.
As he builds up for the competitive year ahead with a six-week block of work at the UK Athletics Endurance Camp at Iten in Kenya, however, the 29-year-old Briton is wary of the potential threat he faces from the American training partner he has temporarily left behind in Portland.
"I think Galen is going to have a great year," Farah said of Rupp, who took silver in the Olympic 10,000m final last summer.
Farah's first race of the year will be the 3,000m in the British Athletics Grand Prix at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham on 16 February. He will then decide whether to defend his European indoor 3,000m title in Gothenburg in March.
