From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Outstanding goals by two veteran strikers, Steve Bull and Martin Foyle, lit up a disappointing First Division derby last night at Molineux, where Port Vale held Wolves to a 1-1 draw.

A tedious game hardly deserved the two highlights given to it by the 32-year-old Bull and the Vale substitute Foyle, who is two years his senior.

Neither goalkeeper had been seriously tested before Bull found the net in the 73rd minute for his third goal in four days to take his tally for the club to 294. He gained possession from a through ball by Darren Ferguson, held off three strong challenges and powered a superb low right-foot drive into the corner from 20 yards.

Vale equalised eight minutes from time. Stuart Talbot did well just outside the area to side-step two challenges and lay off a short pass which Foyle curled over Mike Stowell from 16 yards.
