England beat Sweden 2-0 in Samara to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time in 28 years.

Croatia or hosts Russia now await in just England's third-ever World Cup semi-final, with headers either side of half-time by Maguire and Alli securing a comfortable 2-0 quarter-final win against surprise package Sweden.

And the good news for Gareth Southgate doesn’t end there.

Heading into the World Cup quarter-final against Sweden, England had four players on a booking, meaning that if they had picked up a yellow card on Saturday they would have been banned for the semi-final.

But Kyle Walker, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jordan Henderson and Jesse Lingard all avoided picking up a yellow card, meaning they will be available to play on Wednesday night.

Harry Maguire was shown a yellow card against Sweden, but cautions are wiped out after the quarter-final stage, meaning all of England’s players will head into the semi-final with a clean slate.

Only a red card would rule them out of the final – if England got there.

Engand will play either Russia or Croatia in the World Cup semi-final, and both of those sides have a number of players heading into their quarter-finals carrying bookings – meaning they could yet be banned for the England clash.

Gazinsky, Golovin, Kutepov, Smolov, Zobnin are vulnerable for Russia.

Meanwhile, Rakitic, Rebic, Brozovic, Corluka, Jedvaj, Mandzukic, Pjaca, Vrsaljko are all vulnerable for Croatia.
