Women’s World Cup 2019: Adidas to pay Ellen White and Millie Bright same bonus as Paul Pogba if England win tournament

White could also land the same prize as Harry Kane if she wins the Golden Boot

World Cup stars Ellen White and Millie Bright could become instant millionaires if England triumph in France after adidas pledged to match the bonus handed out to Paul Pogba and his France teammates last year.

White has shone this summer with her ruthless streak in front of goal, scoring a joint-most five goals alongside United States stars Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan.

Bright meanwhile has partnered Steph Houghton at the back for England, with the Lionesses keeping four consecutive clean sheets to reach the semi-finals.

As well as matching the bonus for winning the tournament for each player, adidas will also offer the same amount for the Golden Boot winner that they paid Harry Kanefor coming out on top at Russia 2018.

That will mean White could profit most from the sportswear giant’s vow for “equal pay for equal play”.

The FA will hand out £50,000 to each player if they win the final in Lyon, while White’s current deal with Manchester City is reportedly worth £60,000 per year.

Toni Duggan, who is sponsored by Nike, commented on adidas’ commitment before the tournament, insisting she was happy for her teammates.

“It’s irrelevant to me,” Duggan said. “When you sign a contract that’s your deal, everyone has different deals.

England next face the USWNT on Tuesday for a place in the World Cup final.
