Dominic Cork, the former England all-rounder, has made one of the most surprising moves of transfer window so far by becoming a Sky Sports News football reporter.
Cork, 45, has been stationed outside Stoke City’s bet365 stadium throughout ‘deadline day’ to report on comings and goings at the Staffordshire club.
The former Derbyshire and Lancashire county cricketer is a life-long Stoke supporter from nearby Newcastle-under-Lyme and has previously worked on Sky Sports’ cricket coverage.
Cork, whose appearance on the 24-hour sports new channel confused many viewers, has been one of Sky's busier reporters ahead of Wednesday’s 11.00pm deadline.
Wilfried Bony, the Manchester City striker, has joined Stoke on loan until the end, having been deemed surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium.
And despite being new to the role, Cork managed to snare Bony and, in ‘deadline day’ tradition, he conducted an interview through a car window.
Stoke have also completed the loan signing of defender Bruno Martins Indi from Porto, while Philipp Wollscheid has left for Wolfsburg.
Cork represented England in 37 Tests and 32 one-day matches over the course of a decade-long international career.
He retired from all forms of the sport in 2011 following his release from Hampshire.
